Richie A. WhittenRichie Whitten is a former Social Security staff attorney, having over 18 years experience working with hundreds of Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cases, having tried cases in over seven states. Born in Florence, Alabama on January 31, 1960, Richie graduated from Central High School in 1978. Following a year at the University of North Alabama, he completed his undergraduate education at Birmingham-Southern College, receiving a BA in 1982.
He then attended Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas receiving his JD in 1990. In 1991 he was admitted to the practice of law in Alabama while serving two years as a law clerk to the judges of the Alabama 11th circuit in Lauderdale County. In 1993 he was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Following five years working as a staff/senior attorney with the Social Security Administration, he then spent 11 years developing a successful sole practice focused upon helping individuals obtain their Social Security and SSI benefits.
In June 2011 The Law Offices of Richie A. Whitten were merged into the Personal Injury Firm of McCutcheon & Hamner, P.C., Richie joining the firm as "of counsel". Richie is a member of the Lauderdale County Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, American Bar Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives.
