When I was a child growing up, there was a very popular song called "Convoy" and it was about guys driving the big rigs. What is a big rig? Well, a big rig is just a commercial truck. It could be a UPS truck, it could be an Amazon delivery truck, a Walmart truck, it can be a box truck, and in Alabama it can be the ever popular log truck. So the rules that apply to big rig drivers are different than just what you and I, a whole person using the roads, live under. It's called the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. And the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations identify drivers of the big rigs as professional drivers. And they have to know those rules and they have to operate under those rules. Now the interesting thing that you may not know is I have driven a big rig and because of that I have intimate knowledge of not only the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, but how these rigs operate, how they're driven, and how you have to chart your time.
