This video discusses the importance of identifying defective medical devices and the potential legal implications. It highlights specific cases involving defective hip and knee implants, as well as issues with Medtronic heart devices. The video emphasizes the need for legal assistance if you experience problems with a medical device.
If you suspect your medical device is defective, you should consult with a legal professional who specializes in medical device cases. They can help you understand your options and the next steps to take.
It can be difficult to determine if your symptoms are related to a defective device. A medical evaluation and consultation with a legal expert can help clarify the situation.
Common medical devices involved in lawsuits include hip implants, knee replacements, and certain heart devices. Each case varies based on the specific device and the issues encountered.
When you have a defective medical device case, you look to see who others have those same devices implanted because typically you'll have a bad batch of devices. Striker knees were a big case for us. We had about 28 of those cases. There are HIP cases that had defective parts. There was a whole series of HIPs made where the top of the femur and the ball were metal on metal. They were called MOM cases. And that metal was very smooth, but it was still wear. And any sort of granular surface within that joint would cause hypermetallosis within the body. And people would get weird and strange symptoms and eventually those would have to be redone. Now you see misfitted HIPs, that's medical malpractice. That's not a medical device case. We see HIPs, knees, and there were a lot of Medtronic heart cases where Medtronic has a screw type deal that goes into the heart muscle itself. And they were shaped like a pig's tail and they would actually screw into the heart muscle and shock the heart repeatedly. And those devices would fail unexpectedly causing catastrophic results as one might expect. So if you have a medical device and you have a problem with it, we do those cases. We know how to do those cases and we'd love to help you with it. So give us a call.
